National broadcast station owner groups, including the area’s TV stations in Charlotte, Greenville, Spartanburg and Columbia, are now demanding a cash payment from you. This additional fee is for continued carriage of their programming on Comporium’s cable line-up.
Comporium negotiated in good faith with all of these stations during the past several months; and, in some cases, we were successful in reducing the new fees proposed by the broadcast stations by as much as 50 percent.
WSPA-TV (York County cable channel 7 – CBS), out of Spartanburg, and Columbia’s WIS-TV (Lancaster County cable channel 7 – NBC) are forcing Comporium to take them off of their line-up. We would not agree with these stations to make you pay a new broadcast station fee for out-of-market stations. Both of these stations will be removed from our line-up on Dec. 31, 2008.
WSPA is an out-of-market station and a duplicate CBS network feed of a Charlotte station (WBTV - cable channel 5). WIS, is an out-of-market station and a duplicate network feed of a Charlotte station (WCNC - cable channel 6) Please be aware satellite companies cannot carry either WSPA or WIS in the York County and Lancaster County markets.
We take great pride in serving this community and keeping all rates and fees as low as possible to provide you with quality home entertainment.
