Every computer that communicates over the Internet is assigned an Internet Protocol (IP) address that uniquely identifies the device and distinguishes it from other computers on the Internet. Comporium strongly advises its customers to check the IP configuration for the network connections they use to ensure they are properly set up to go to Comporium supported servers.
In the past, Comporium customers have always been able to use the following IP addresses:
• 206.74.254.2• 204.116.57.2
While it is possible that the two IP addresses above may continue to work, we cannot guarantee that they will remain operational, because these servers do not belong to Comporium. We are advising all customers to change their configuration to Comporium supported servers, which are identified as follows:
• Primary: 208.104.244.45• Secondary: 208.104.2.36
• Tertiary: 208.104.2.85
When a computer is configured to use the same IP address each time it powers up, this is known as a Static IP address, which is manually assigned by someone. In situations when the computer's IP address is assigned automatically, it is known as a Dynamic IP address.
Customers who do not have a static IP address can disregard this notice in most cases. Customers without a static IP address receive the correct server identification automatically when they connect to the Internet, unless they have manually programmed them in. If you are already using the Comporium supported servers, please disregard this letter.
