Q:
How do I connect to Comporium's Wi-Fi hotspots?
Answer:
All WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) cards come with some type of configuration client. Every wireless configuration utility is slightly different in look and feel but should be very similar in terms of functionality. Although different, every utility should have the same user-defined settings.
To connect to a Comporium hotspot, you simply need to open your wireless configuration utility and associate with the Comporium Hostpot SSID. A list of hotspots can be found here.

Q:
I am at a Comporium hotspot and am getting poor coverage, what should I do?
Answer:
• You may be out of range of the wireless access point. Try moving closer to the building.
• A wireless connection is not completely dependent on the signal strength of the access point, but also on the signal strength of the WLAN card you are using. If others seem to be having less signal strength issues, you may want to purchase a card with a higher transmit power.

Q:
I have a wireless router or Comporium wireless gateway at home and am having trouble connecting. What steps can I take to troubleshoot?
Answer:
• Make sure you have connected (also known as associated) to the wireless access device properly using the wireless configuration tool.
• Make sure you have not manually entered any connection or security settings for the wireless connections. The wireless access device broadcasts all connection information necessary for connection.
• Windows XP comes standard with software for setting up a WLAN connection (you will still need a WLAN card to make a wireless Internet connection). If you are using the WLAN card configuration, please ensure that you have deactivated the Windows configuration tool.
